Events and Stuff
Lots of stuff coming up on the next few months, but nothing so impending as Space City Con! That’s right… *THIS* weekend is Space City Con, taking place in the Westin Galleria in Houston, Texas. Visit Space City Con for more information on the event. Heather and I will be signing books there, so bring yours if you’ve got ’em, but if you don’t, that’s alright… we can sell you some of ours. Come out and enjoy the fun! Nichelle Nichols, R.A. Salvatore, and Breandán Ó Ciarraí, among many other talented actors, celebrities, artists, writers, and others will be there. Oh yeah… and us.
The Saturday after that… next weekend, we will be at the Magick Cauldron for another book-signing. If you don’t like big crowds, but you still would like to see us in Houston, this would be a good venue for you. Plus, you won’t have to buy a ticket to get in (like you would with Space City Con). Visit our Events page for more book signing events we will be attending this year and next.
What a roller-coaster ride over the last few weeks. I (Christopher) usually don’t interject much of my personal life on this blog… I leave that to Facebook or just calling folks on the phone… but things have been a maelstrom around here of late. June 15, I was laid off from a contract job I had been working at for over 10 months; it was one of those out-of-the-blue, didn’t see it coming kind of layoffs. In my time off (well, before I was laid-off, but I never had time), I made it my mission to finish moving what was once known as Morrigan’s Brood: Crone of War from Lulu over to Lightning Source, where it would reside with a new ISBN and a revised name… Crone of War: Morrigan’s Brood Book II. As part of that move, I planned to massage the text a bit, giving it a good polish. Heather and I released a revision of the print book before I could finish the complete revision in order to restock books. Unfortunately, due to my work schedule and other things while I was working on my previous contract, I had little time to devote to the massaging of book 2.
As part of the re-release of Crone of War, you will notice some changes in the cover design. While the beautiful art by the lovely and talented Khanada Taylor remains prominently displayed on the front and back covers, a few changes can be evident, such as typesetting, placement of ISBN, the ISBN itself, and a few other things. Here are both covers side by side:
|New Book Cover|
|Old Book Cover|
My (Christopher) latest foray into Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble yielded duplications of our Morrigan’s Brood Series books. But upon further reflection, I realized that the reason I was seeing double is because Triscelle Publishing is making the transition from one book printer and distributor to another. As part of this transition, they are in the process of re-releasing our Morrigan’s Brood Series books, and Heather and I have been closely involved in this process. It takes months for titles to change out there in distribution land, so it is not uncommon for booksellers to list the same title for the same format (i.e. trade paperback) for two prices, and for there to be a slightly different cover. In order to alleviate confusion during this transition period, when old editions are retired and new editions are incorporated, I will provide a list of old and new ISBNs; this also includes eBooks.
Our winners for our latest giveaway honoring the Rory Miggins Irish Stew Cookoff Benefit for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Houston are:
Free Giveaway 1, in honor of HPPD
We have winners! Heather and I tonight drew three lucky winners who will receive one signed book from our series, but each winner gets to choose which book she or he wins, whether it is Morrigan’s Brood, Crone of War, or Dark Alliance. As before, we will gladly cover the shipping for the prizes. Now, can anyone guess as to the identities of the winners? No? Alright… I shall write them. The winners of our free giveaway in honor of HPPD are:
Well, I (Christopher) may be crazy, and foolish, but I thought our readers with them thar electronicmajigger devices would like to get a jump on reading Dark Alliance, Morrigan’s Brood Book III before the rest of us low-tech folks can buy the paperback book. So, if you want to dive into the version of our book that is based on 1’s and 0’s and not ink and paper, then by all means journey to one of the links below to buy a copy. I’ll even throw in links to our other works available in eBook format. Here it goes…
Wow… lots of stuff going on right now. First, ApolloCon starts today and goes through Sunday. We will be there, so stop by. For more information about ApolloCon, click here.
In honor of ApolloCon, Heather and I will be giving away two ARCs of Dark Alliance, Morrigan’s Brood Book III. For those unaware, ARC stands for Advanced Read Copy. These are pre-released books sent out to reviewers. The ARCs have not yet been copyedited or proofread. Still, winners will get a sneak peak at the new novel, which will be released September 1. If you win and you don’t already have Morrigan’s Brood or Crone of War, Morrigan’s Brood Book II, well, we will throw those in as well. All books will be signed by us, the authors.
I am happy to announce that Morrigan’s Brood and Morrigan’s Brood: Crone of War are now available as eBooks. As of now, the Nook version of Morrigan’s Brood is for sale on the Barnes & Noble website, and both books are on sale on the Amazon.com website. All of these eBooks list for $1.99. Crone of War should be posted for sale soon on B&N. I have also listed the Nook version of both eBooks on Goodreads. I will be working to get these books on the iBookstore and Sony platforms, but that will take some time.
Well, I (Chris) have been working behind the scenes getting ready to release eBooks for both Morrigan’s Brood and Morrigan’s Brood: Crone of War. I am in the process of acquiring eBook publishing software, and I have been setting up accounts with various eBook distributors, such as PubIT (B&N), Kindle (Amazon), Sony, iTunes, Smashwords, and Goodreads, to name a few. We have also acquired a bundle of ISBNs, so hopefully the file conversion process doesn’t take me too long. I have already converted Morrigan’s Brood to HTML, so eBook shouldn’t be far off. Perhaps in a week or two, both books will be available in your favorite eBook format.
No, not yet, so there is still time to enter. If you have not entered already, send an email to Christopher Dunbar. What might you win if you enter? One set of three of Morrigan’s Brood and Morrigan’s Brood: Crone of War, signed by the authors. How much does it cost? The effort to send us an email. How long do you have? Oh, a few more hours… let’s say 9:00 PM CDT, so a little over 5 hours. I will write new contestants names onto tickets and the place those tickets with the ones filled out at Comicpalooza. I will announce the winners on this blog after the drawing tonight, and then I will attempt to contact winners starting tomorrow.
Welcome fans and friends, new and old! We just got back from the Houston Indie Book Festival, and boy are we tired. All day in the humid, sweltering heat became quite taxing. Still, we met many new friends, and we bumped into a few old friends there as well. If you visited us at the Houston Indie Book Festival, AggieCon42 (which we were at last weekend) or some other event, please feel free to say hi in the comments below. I (Christopher) have some pretty cool news to tell, so be prepared for some good reading.
Last year / last month / a few weeks ago, we had announced that we had a few oopses from our printer, that is books which have cover blemishes, rendering them unable to be sold; of course the paper inside is in good condition. Previously, we had offered those books for free if you paid for shipping. We had a few interested parties, so we have shipped out some of those books, but we still have two sets of Morrigan’s Brood and Morrigan’s Brood: Crone of War with cover blemishes, and all four books are just resting on my (Christopher) bookshelf behind me, waiting for new homes.
Sometimes the printer sends us uh-oh’s. However, these uh-oh’s are uh-oh’s on the cover. Most of the time the text is off on the spine. However, everything between the covers is perfect!
So in honor of these uh-oh’s… we’re giving away the uh-oh’s. Okay, they’re not absolutely free, you have to pay for the shipping. However, Chris and I (Heather) will sign ’em and send ’em anywhere!

If you’re interested let us know by contacting us at firstname.lastname@example.org or via facebook (where we’ll post this).
Our latest Goodreads giveaway contest is over, and we have three winners. All three winners will each receive a copy of Morrigan’s Brood and a copy of Morrigan’s Brood: Crone of War, both signed by the authors, as well as some bookmarks. Winners are encouraged, though not required, to rate these books after reading them and to write reviews on Goodreads. The contest was open to readers in the US, Ireland, the UK, Canada, and the Isle of Man. 692 Goodreaders registered for the contest. Now for the winners…
Hey friends and fans of Triscelle Publishing, home of the Morrigan’s Brood Series! Guess what? (Well, if you read our last blog post, this is no surprise.) Heather and Chris were interviewed for Paranormal Haven! Not only did they interview us, they are also hosting a contest. If you want to read our interview and / or enter the contest, please click here.
I wish to apologize to our readers for delaying the continuation of our About Our Cats thread – I have spent much time preparing for Halloween, looking at alternatives to Lulu for print-on-demand printing, and doing other stuff, though perhaps laziness was also a factor. I will continue soon with the story of Ophelia. But now back to business and the news of the week…
Heather and I (Christopher) will be interviewed in a guest blog post on Paranormal Haven. Cool! Well, OK, for us cool… our first interview, but it was fun, and we hope our friends and fans will find it entertaining as well as informative.
I wish to apologize to our friends and fans for taking so long to follow up on a blog entry. These last few weeks have been hectic and tiring, but I think it was mostly laziness on my part that kept me from writing an update. Well, today I break out of my laziness to bring you important news from Triscelle Publishing, including a recap of our book signing at HPPD, an interview of us coming up next month, and a new contest on Goodreads.
There are lots of things going on right now, and I (Christopher) wanted to let our friends and fans know the latest news. We have another book signing coming up next Saturday, we have winners to announce for our Goodreads contest for Morrigan’s Brood: Crone of War, a contest winner of Morrigan’s Brood wrote a wonderful review, and we have some other tidbits of news to share.
Heather Poinsett Dunbar and Christopher Dunbar, authors of the Morrigan’s Brood Series, will be attending a book signing today at The Magick Cauldron, which is located at 2424 Montrose Boulevard; Houston, Texas 77006, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Goodreads Contest Winners
As many of our blog readers know, we have had two contests on Goodreads for people to win free copies of Morrigan’s Brood and Morrigan’s Brood: Crone of War. Well, the contest for Morrigan’s Brood is now over, and it is time to announce the winners! Out of 1,166 contest entrants, Goodreads randomly chose three (3) winners; these winners are:

New Review of Morrigan’s Brood by Paranormal Haven
Stephanie G. with Paranormal Haven recently posted her review of Morrigan’s Brood to three sites: Paranormal Haven, Amazon.com, and Goodreads. She gave Morrigan’s Brood a 4 out of 5 drops of blood (see the rating scale on Paranormal Haven). I wish to thank Stephanie for her review of Morrigan’s Brood, and I can’t wait to see her review of Morrigan’s Brood: Crone of War!
